The Playground focuses on all things for kids in Toronto. Toronto based companies that provide entertainment for kids , as well as attractions, parks, playgrounds and more. A great spot for parents, teachers, and older siblings to find out what is awesome for kids in Toronto.

For the “Spring” months that are upon us the Royal Ontario Museum has something planned for families and their kids. Family Fun Weekends are 6 themed weekends focusing on topics such as Biodiversity and Ancient Egypt. The entertainment is targeted towards all ages and visitors can expect interactive demonstrations and performances, a chance to meet specialists in different fields such as archaeology, a chance to get up close to museum artifacts that are usually off limits, and design and build crafts related to the week’s theme.

Activities run from 11 am to 4 pm and are included in your general admission to the museum.

Here is the full Family Fun Weekends schedule for you to plan your trips:

April 13 – 14: Archaeology Weekend

Meet archaeologists and find out what they do to make their discoveries. Then get up close with objects usually hidden away in the museum’s vaults. Try your hand at being an archaeologist as you learn some of the skills they use in the field. Meet people who do “experimental” archaeology by trying to do things the way they were done in the past, and “living history” re-enactors of the Viking era who try to understand the past by living it.

The Playground focuses on all things for kids in Toronto. Toronto based companies that provide entertainment for kids , as well as attractions, parks, playgrounds and more. A great spot for parents, teachers, and older siblings to find out what is awesome for kids in Toronto.

In a previous article we talked about the now closed Ontario Place that provided entertainment for families and tourists for years before it was eventually closed for redesign and an unknown future.

One of the best parts of Ontario Place growing up was the Legoland that was connected to the “Nintendo Power Pod”. Hours of my time as a child were spent building both towers and my mind through play. You could say I was a bit of a Lego Maniac.

It was great to find out that a new Legoland is coming back to Toronto and is opening tomorrow. The Legoland Discovery Centre is located at the Vaughn Mills Shopping Centre in Vaughn Mills. The 34,000 square-foot indoor attraction will feature more than 3 million LEGO bricks and will be aimed towards children ages 3-10 and their families.
