Fellow dog lovers, I’m sure most of you have been putting up with the incessant begging ever since the Christmas commercials began airing in late August this year, but have no fear, the wait is almost over! At long last, we’ve finally reached that fur-filled festive weekend we lovingly refer to as Winter Woofstock.

Winter Woofstock, the most anticipated winter ‘stock among dogs and their owners will be returning to town this Saturday and Sunday at the Direct Energy Centre in Toronto for its 3rd annual winter canine celebration. But what exactly does that mean for you and your four-legged friend?

NAME: Skunk
BREED: Mutt of unknown origin
HOOD: Bloor West Village
FAVOURITE SNACK: Green Tea Ice Cream. Seriously.
OTHER INFO: We got Skunk from my Uncle, who found him after he called an exterminator for what he thought was a skunk problem. Turned out, there was a momma dog and a litter of pups! My Uncle kept the mom, and the litter all went to loving homes—mine being one of them. That’s how Skunk got his name, too. Skunk is a picky eater, only plays with toys that DON’T make noise, and howls at the sound of any string instrument. He sleeps about 20 hours a day, and is impossibly energetic for the other 4 hours. He loves to snuggle and sleeps under the covers with us.

NAME: Kobi
BREED: Golden/Malamute Mix
HOOD: Avenue Rd. and Eglinton
FAVOURITE SNACK: It’s a tie between liver treats & carrots.

OTHER INFO: Kobi isn’t much of a barker but will “talk” and tell you all about his day (and if he ever starts talking politics, it’s perfectly acceptable to just ‘tune him out’). He loves to swim and go for boat rides. Kobi’s level of happiness can often be inferred by a simple investigation of how coiled his tail is; when he’s very happy it rests as a perfect little circle on his back. Conversely, one time upon returning home from the cottage, Kobi’s tail was a straight line pointed down to the ground for two full weeks.

NAME: Milos (Self-named). Chosen by self in the backseat of a Mazda 3, en route to a farm to roast a pig, on his first-ever outing, by eating the piece of paper with that awesome name on it from a pile of many, many other options. (He’ll never know how close he was to being a Regis.)
BREED: Chug; part chihuahua, part pug. All cute.
HOOD: Mt Pleasant Village.
FAVOURITE SNACK: Beer.

OTHER INFO: “Hi, I’m Milos, yeah, it’s actually pronounced ‘Milosh,’ one time, back when I was zero and my puppysitter wasn’t watching, I ate so much cat food I almost died. So. Much. Poop. As a puppy I was terrified of walks, and as far as I can garner, I was purchased on an intoxicated whim. Best. Decision. Ever. Thanks so much for featuring me here. I had fun.”
